Our definition of service?

When it comes to language services, every customer, every industry has its own special profile of requirements.

  • Besides the prime concern of quality, other factors come into play, e.g. speed -
  • the availability of multiple-language solutions simultaneously at different locations,
  • optimised costs and individual solutions for documentation and software localisation, etc.

A mechanical engineering company once contacted us at 6 p.m. after spending the whole day trying to find a German > Russian translator for a technical specification.

We were able to solve the problem within our network using a trilingual solution (German > English and English > Russian, with the appropriate specialist qualifications).

When the customer landed at St Petersburg at 8 a.m. the following morning, he was handed the finished translation at the airport itself.

The way we see it, a service company can only be

A GOOD PARTNER FOR ITS CUSTOMERS

if it is prepared to take time to find new solutions to their problems, rather than just offering standard solutions.

And that's precisely what we do; after all, the people working within our network know that every new solution they come up with benefits both our customers and the network itself.

NetVenture's experience and organisational structure with its own LinguaNet network gives us both the capacity and the expertise to comply with these general requirements.

The advantages for you:

  • We work on the original files.

  • We supply results ready for printing.

  • We exploit machine-aided translation to achieve savings of up to 40 %.

  • NetVenture develops its own tools for pre- and post-processing and terminology management.

             F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

What is software localisation?
  • Software localisation deals with the translation of the Computer User Interface,
  • Help functions, error messages, dialog boxes, etc.
  • The translation of the software documentation can be a part of software localisation.
What makes or breaks the quality of a translation?

Most people completely underestimate the process of translation.

Genuinely good quality is possible only if the qualified translator

a) works in his or her specialist field (business, law, advertising, technology, etc.),

b) translates into his or her mother tongue, the only language he or she fully masters,

c) lives and works in his or her native country (to be in tune with current language trends).

A lot of people also mistakenly believe that any company staff member who can translate into a foreign language is able to process a translation more quickly, more efficiently and above all more cheaply than a qualified translator.

How many words on average can a translator translate in a day?

The average is around 1,500 to 2,500 words.

However, by using the appropriate tools, some highly qualified translators are able to triple this average!

Translators are, however, only human and quality can suffer under extreme pressure.

What are the differences between traditionally drafted translations,
translations compiled with the aid of computers and
entirely computer-generated translations?
  • The traditional method of translation without the aid of computers is used for short texts and in advertising. Here only the translator's skills can provide high quality results. In these cases cost advantages cannot be achieved by using computers.

  • With large volumes of text, recurrent updates etc., computer-aided translation is enormously effective in cutting costs and at the same time relieving the translator of routine work. We ourselves have been very successful using IBM's Translation Manager.

  • Entirely computer-generated translations are already available on the market; however, they are in no way comparable with the level of quality achieved by a qualified translator.

What is the quickest way for me to find out how a particular translation job
will be processed and how long it will take?

Send us a rough description of your project and we'll immediately e-mail, fax or phone you with all the key information you need. We'll also answer any specific questions you may have straight away.
